Harry James Potter was born on July 31, 1980. He has the same birthday as JK Rowling.
He almost died at the age of fifteen months, on October 31, 1981, when Lord Voldemort, a powerful dark wizard, cast the unforgivable curse of Avada Kedavra on him. Before Harry, no one had ever survived such a fate. All he left from this attack was a scar in the shape of a lightning bolt on his forehead. It was the power of the love of his mother Lily, who sacrificed herself for him, which caused this “miracle”. However, the details of this unexpected event are only revealed to the reader in the seventh novel. Only one thing is certain: Lily's love is something Voldemort was incapable of predicting, let alone understanding. This “miraculous” protection comes from a very ancient magic linked to love and can remain active until Harry comes of age, on the condition that someone of his blood (in other words, his aunt Petunia) welcomes him. his home. The black mage's spell backfired and he was reduced to a bodiless being, even weaker than a ghost but nonetheless still capable of using his power of possession. Harry was briefly left alone in his crib, wounded in the forehead, in the middle of his almost completely destroyed house, the ruins covering the bodies of his father and mother. Very quickly, however, Rubeus Hagrid came to save him and left to join Professors Dumbledore and McGonagall with the flying motorcycle of Sirius Black, Harry's godfather, so that he would not be found by the Death Eaters.
Harry was placed at 4, Privet Drive with his uncle and aunt, the Dursleys - muggles , who responded, albeit reluctantly, to the request of Albus Dumbledore. He will live with them until he enters Hogwarts, then will only return every summer, until his final departure, the summer he turns 17. Dumbledore, who was aware of the protective magic linked to blood, sent a letter to his aunt Petunia Dursley, née Evans, sister of Lily Evans Potter, explaining to her what had happened at the Potters. However, Petunia, disgusted by magic, her "horrible monster of a sister" and her "horrible husband", hides the truth from her nephew about the death of her parents and about her nature as a wizard. The Dursleys made life difficult for him, giving him many thankless tasks, while their son Dudley, a big, plump boy spoiled by his parents, made Harry their whip, having fun chasing him around with his friends ( a game they call chasing Harry) and hitting him, the rare times he manages to catch him. Harry also suffered a lot of mistreatment from his uncle and aunt: until the end of his tenth year, he slept in a cupboard under the stairs, had to cook for them (but very rarely ate at his hungry) and could only wear Dudley's old clothes. But above all, he grew up from the age of fifteen months to the age of eleven without parental love. The Dursleys had to move during the events of the seventh novel so that Voldemort could not follow their trail.
(*) A figurine bobblehead , sometimes translated as "bobblehead figure", is a type of collectible toy, whose head is often oversized in relation to its body. Instead of a solid junction with the rest of the body, it is connected to it by a spring or hook so that the head wiggles when touched, hence the name.
