In mid-1985, during the era of Back to the Future's box office dominance, Mike and Eleven developed a romantic relationship, as did Max and Lucas. seemingly normal, though a year after the defeat of the Mind Flayer, things are not at all what they seem in Hawkins, Indiana. The city has a new leader, the morally corrupt Mayor Kline, whose administration supported and presided over the construction of the new Starcourt Mall. As the 4th of July approaches, strange things begin to happen: Erica, Lucas's sister, discovers a mysterious new threat, and a lifeguard at the municipal swimming pool suddenly disappears, triggering fear in those who still remember the events of the previous year.

This is Erica, Lucas' younger sister who will play a bigger role in the next season.
