Larry Joe Bird, sometimes nicknamed "Larry Legend" or "Gold Hand", is an American basketball player, coach and executive born December 7, 1956 in West Baden Springs, Indiana.
Considered one of the best players of the NBA's fiftieth anniversary according to a vote taken in 1996, his rivalry with Magic Johnson is one of the factors in the revival of the NBA, a renewal which then continued with the advent of Michael Jordan.
Larry Bird is honored three times with the title of best player in the league (NBA Most Valuable Player Award) and, twice, with the title of best player in the NBA Finals. In 1998, he was inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame.
